Adding Tags in Bulk (via File Import)
Using the Import Tag Assignments feature, you can easily add new tags to clients and groups. This feature uses the source connector code, or the Xeppo code displayed in your client search to create tags at a client or group level.
This feature may prove useful if you have Xplan tags that have been brought in at the client level, and you would like them at the Group level, or if you would like to identify clients or groups without individually applying tags.
Adding Tags in Bulk at a Client Level
Select Clients > Search Clients, and then apply any filters to display the clients you want to make a tag for. If you would like to create tags based on the Xeppo code, ensure you have the Xeppo code column displayed. If you would like to create tags based on the connector code, have the Code column displayed.
Once you have your desired list of clients, select Actions > Export, and export as a CSV file.
- Open your CSV file and remove all information except the code. Now, either name the two columns after code Tag ID and Tag Value, or download the template available from Admin > Tags > Import Tags BETA and paste your codes in.
- Under Tag ID, type the name of the Tag you want to add, making sure that this tag can be applied at a Client level. If this tag does not exist in Xeppo, create it now by selecting Admin > Tags in Xeppo.
Under Tag Value, type the name of the value that sits under the tag. For example, Segment may be the Tag, whereas Platinum, Gold and Silver would be the values.
If you are unsure of either of these values, they can be found by navigating to Admin > Tags and selecting Edit next to the tag you will be using. The ‘Name’ field is the Tag ID, and the Values are the Tag Values Once you have filled in your cells, save this document.
- In Xeppo, select Admin > Tags, then Import Tag Assignments.
- Choose the file you created.
- Choose whether to import as a Xeppo or connector tag. If you used 'Xeppo Code' in your Spreadsheet, select Xeppo. If you used 'Code' in your spreadsheet, select Connector, and then the relevant connector from the dropdown list.
- Select Associated Against: Client
- Select Import
The tags have now been added to all entities in your spreadsheet.
Adding Tags in Bulk at a Group Level

- Choose the file you created.
- Import as Xeppo
- Select Associated Against: Group
- Select Import
The tags have now been added to all Groups in your spreadsheet.
Considerations
- The Import Tag Assignments feature uses the Connector Code to ensure the tag is placed against the correct entity, and will only look at the Connector selected. When completing your list of clients, check that they all have the same connector code type. If you have a tag for source connectors, this would prove useful here.
- The connector code displayed in your client search is determined by your connector priority, so if you have Xplan set to the highest priority, most Clients will have their Xplan Code listed in the Code column.
- The Tag and Value must already exist in Xeppo before using the Import Tag Assignments feature. You can add tags by navigating to Admin > Tags.
- If the CSV file does not contain the correct headings, the connector codes are not in the correct format, or the Tag does not exist in Xeppo, an error will display and the tags will not be created. You can download a template of the CSV file required from Admin > Tags > Import Tags BETA
- This can be used to create tags at a Group level that were previously at a Client level, such as tags that were brought in from Xplan. Creating the tag at a Group level will not remove the tags at a Client level.
